Welcome 2007. I don't know about you but it don't look like that here. It's raining.
Not that rain isn't good for us, but it is not exactly
the way I'd like to start off this year; however, I'd better keep my mouth shut because it could be like Denver, Kansas, and Nebraska.
As I sit here thinking about this New Year, with my purring cat Cashew sitting in my shoulder, I give thanks to God for allowing me to be here.
I am so grateful to Him for giving me a sister, like
Elinor and a brother, like Ross. As a baby sister,I
lucked out. These two people have shared my life with me and seen me thru some incredible events. While struggling thru their own lives, they haven't neglected "the kid". Their love and
advice and their wonderful hugs have helped me get on. I cherish both of them.
I also cherish the two people who have shared their lives with them: Sharon and Gary. It gave
me two extra siblings and a whole bunch of nieces, nephews, and greats.
Family is definitely KOOOOOL.
Being in a reflective mood brings me to friends. Here too, I have been blessed. I have 6
soulmates. There is Donna, my softball and artist buddy. She is dealing with her mother's
lifethreatening illness but she is strong and courageous. There is Carolyn, my photo buddy
and traveling companion. She and I shared our parents getting old and dying. There is my
cousin, Margaret or Margaretta as I call her. We have gone thru life together. We were thrown
together in childhood out in Illinois, we both love animals, our mothers were always close.
I learned some of my best cuss words from Marg on a trip across country many many years
ago. There is Ruth, a dear friend of my Mom's who is now my dear friend too. Dealing with
age hasn't been easy for her but she has class to go along with her warmth. Nancy is my kindred spirit. She was my first boss as a travel agent but we became sisters. She was the first to
be there when my Mom died. We've been thru some tough times. Finally, there is Lynn,
my mentor. Besides being a softball buddy, she is my spiritual teacher. It was she that helped
me find Jesus Christ. I thank God for my soulsisters and den mother(Ruthie). I am truely
blessed.
