It's all in how you say it.
Today was a beautiful day weatherwise but a lousy day relationshipwise. I have always prided
myself with my friendlyness yet today I was told
by one of our new members that I had been racially rude to her.
She came in and said that she wanted to quit Curves. I was truely surprised because I thought she was enjoying her workouts. Now she tells me that last Wed when she came in that I had insulted her. It seems she told me that she had been gardening and had hurt her elbows. I had been correcting her on her use of one of the machines and when she explained about her elbows, I said "well then I won't mess with you".
I meant that she should set her own pace but she took it that I was insulting her.
In her country, people are soft spoken; here, especially in the morning, I tend to be exhuberant
because that is what most of my ladies like and expect. I feel badly because she wants to quit
and I have apologized but this lady refuses to try again. We are all losers. We lose a customer and she loses a good exercise place. I can't see her going to Lifetime or Gold's and being treated
better. I wasn't rude; just misunderstood. Yuck!!!

All you can do is say sorry, after that it is on the other person. It is sad when something like this happens but don't beat yourself up. You ARE a good person with a heart bigger than Texas. I am so sorry this happened to you but your side of the street is clean.
Much love,
Lyndi
