New Friends

Yesterday I went to help Donna Turgeon at the Art Expo show
in Washington DC. The plan had been that I would take the subway and meet her there. Afterward, we would pack everything up and load the truck and drive home. she would drop me off at my house. Well, the bus that takes you to the metro doesn't run as often as during the week and when I found that I would have to wait 1 1/2 hrs I said" phoooey on this". I got my car and drove in and found a parking spot near the Convention Center. Because it was Sunday, it didn't cost me anything.
The Expo has been a real disappointment to everyone because
they didn't have the turnout that they expected. Donna managed to sell 2 prints. Of course, when you don't advertise, you don't get. Also, August has to be the worst time to have a
Art show. People are outdoors doing things, vacationing and just not into being indoors.
There were some good things about this show though. I met two very interesting ladies:M. Gasby Brown(www.NoPermissionNeeded.com) and Crystal Pittman(www.cpittmanart.com). Both ladies are very talented and just delightful. Gasby is an author as well as an artist. Her book is about the art of Praising and I bought it and she signed it for me. Crystal is a fabulous artist who has painted some terrific portaits of jazz performers. The one I really like is of Dizzy Gillespie and I want to buy a print of it. We enjoyed talking and I hope to hear more about her.
You never can tell about things. I didn't really want to go to this show but I am very glad I did.
Not only because I was able to help Donna but I met some truely gifted people. It is a good thing to do something when you don't really want to. You often get pleasantly surprised.
