A Spider Web of Friends
I don't know if this is the correct name for this flower or not but I think it is called the spider plant. If not, it should be because that it what it reminds me of.
When I wrote in my blog a few days ago about friendship, I only mentioned those that I had just recently seen but I don't want my other special people to think they are not important.
I have written about my travel buddy, Carolyn and even though this was the first time in a while that we haven't traveled someplace, she is still my buddy. This has been a hard year for Carolyn because she lost one of her dogs
very suddenly. Also, she is not crazy about where she is living(Florida). It is too hot there and she is lonesome.
Where she lives does not present many opportunities to
take classes, etc. Hopefully, she will be able to sell her house and move up to North Carolina where her son lives. I hope this will happen soon. Meanwhile, I hope we will be able to travel again soon.
Another good buddy is my Bro. Ross and I have always been close. We usually talk or e-mail once a week but lately, we have gotten a little slack. But the good news is that he and I will be traveling together when I move. He will fly up here and help with the packing of the truck and then will drive said truck all the way. What a guy!!!!! Of course, he would be special even if he wasn't driving just because he my Rossy. He has always been there for me with an listening ear, a friendly word and if he is physically nearby, a great big HUG. You can't ask for better than that(at least I can't).
Naturally, my new-to-be room-mate also is on my friend list but I've written about her enough for now.(Nothing has changed and she also is real good with the HUGS).
My boss, Sue, is a good friend even though I make her mad sometime when I do something stupid. I own up to my mistakes if I know Ive done something wrong but sometimes, she get a little peturbed. She has been a good employer and I certainly do appreciate working for her.
There is one particular friend I will truely miss and that is Lynn Smith. She has been my softball pal, my mentor, my travel companion, and my Bible study buddy. I first got to know her thru softball. I don't remember if we were on a team together first or it was the first Olympics for me
but whatever, I found her a pleasant person to hang around with. I was her assistant manager twice I think but it was during my first Olympic venture that I really came to know her. We were both benchwarmers but that was ok with us because we just wanted to be a part of the experience. Afterward, we decided to explore Florida so we drove around and covered most of the state. Each morning, Lynn would read her Bible(this was her quiet time) and do her study.
After a while, I asked a few questions but that was it for me. Later when I was ready to ask some serious questions, I knew just who to turn to for the answers. It was because of her that I went to Immanuel Bible Church(a fantastic decision);first as a member of her Bible Study group, then as a fellow worshiper and finally, as a fellow believer in Jesus Christ. We have continued
with the Bible study at Church and have even studied together when the Church's group is on
vacation. This summer, we traveled together around Kentucky and had a ball. I use to be a little uncomfortable around someone who was always talking about religion........I've never felt uncomfortable around Lynn.
Finally, one last person for this entry: Annie Wiehe. I will be spending my birthday up in Mass.
this year with Annie. I'm not sure what we will be doing but it will be good. Annie lost her hubby, Roger, earlier this year so it will seem strange not to have him around physically. I know he will be there otherwise. I have known Annie since I was about 10. She has always been kind and friendly and a genuine happy person. I love to get a phone call from her with her cheery
"hello". She was more my Mother's friend than mine in the beginning but we have been closer over the years.
I called this entry "A Spider Web of Friends" because I like to think that once they get caught in my web, I won't let them go. Good friends are hard to come by and that's the truth.....!
