Pioneer Stock?

Have you ever wondered if you could have made it back in the days of old? I have. This trip to Kentucky was an eye opener. Being a pioneer was rough. I 'm not just talking about doing without modern convenieces like an oven or refrigerator but also not having the right to make my own choices because I am a woman.
Imagine leaving all that you know to go to a new land where you could be killed because there was no doctor. There were no schools or stores. There were no houses that had dry floors. They were mostly dirt floors. Sometimes, there was not enough food and sometimes, not enough water to drink or wash with. Sometimes your nearest neighbor was a day away. There were very few certainties in life. I don't know if I could do that.
It does make you appreciate what we have more than ever. Thank you, God.......for what we have now and for those who were brave enough to go before.
The above is one of the murals painted on the flood walls in Maysville. It shows people arriving from the East by way of the Ohio River. Maysville was one of the major ports during the Western Exspansion of the United States.
