Another Art Show with Donna

There is an Art Expo is Washington, DC and Donna Turgeon is in it. All last week and early this week, she has told me that she doesn't want to be in it but she paid $1000.00 and she can't afford to loose it. The show is being held in the
DC Convention Center which is located on Mt Vernon Place right before you enter Chinatown.
We had to take her art into the Center at 11am
this morning so I drove down to her place and we loaded up Ken's truck with paintings and the cages to hang them on.
The information that was sent to her did not say where one goes to unload the art so I looked up the Convention Center's web site and found that we enter on 7th and N ST. We drove in and found where we were suppose to go and then, the guys from the Convention Center had to unload the truck(Union rules= $150.00). Donna and I set up the cages. Donna's friend and suppose to be promoter,Joe , said he would be there to help set up. Joe is not the most reliable individual. He is mostly talk and little do. He did help hang to two biggest pieces but that is it. The prices he set were a little on the high side but Donna and I lowered them on our own. It took us 3 1/2 hrs to set up and then we drove home, showered and went back into DC. Tonight was suppose to be a big night with people paying $100.00 per person. There was live music and finger food and a live auction. The music was loud and slightly off key, the food was good but they didn't have much of it and I don't think they raised too much money at the auction.
Most of the art work was by Black artists and unfortunately it all looked similar: bright colors,
people dancing or playing instruments, or early primatives. I saw a few artists that I liked but not much. We didn't have a whole lot of people stop by but those that did seem to like Donna's
work but no sales. It will be interesting to see if we sell anything tomorrow. Donna will be on her own because I have a prior commitment. I will go and help her on Sunday. This show is being sponsered by one of Joe's aquaintences and I don't have a whole lot of confidence in them or Joe for that matter. He keeps promising that whe will sell alot but she never does. Her artwork is really great and I am delighted to be involved with her but she hasn't really sold anything significant . I hope this time will be different.
