Softball Season

I am getting excited. This Saturday is the annual
Golden Girls Breakfast. This is an event that I have enjoyed for 15 years. I first joined the organization in 1992. Back then, we held the Breakfast in the basement of the Vienna Community Center. Now, we hold it in the upstairs meeting room at the Battlefield Best Western. Then, everyone brought a dish. Now, it is catered by the hotel. Back then, we put on skits. Now, we have major productions such as our Band and the visiting Hula dancers.
The faces have changes over the years. Many of us have gotten older. We also have new members. Some faces have disappeared entirely. Our
outfits have changes. We used to use pinnies to differentiate the teams. Now we have t-shirts.
Yet, there is still the energy, the eagerness, the comradity, the joy of being together once again.
How much I owe these wonderful women who welcomed me into their fold. The friendships have been good ones. I still have special people that have earned their own niche in my heart:
Donna, Lynn, Beth Hersey, Barb Jamborski, Pat Blackmon, Lucy Sale, Baz, Laura Carver, Legs, Toni Letaw, Frog, Brooke, Ace, Doris, Ange, PJ, and Minor. How much I owe.
